Education : — Primary schooling at Madurai and Pudukkottai Tamil Nadu
— High School at Fort High School Bangalore 1962 – 1965
— Graduated from National College Jaya Nagar Bangalore with B. A Degree
In Psychology and Sociology as Majors and Economics as Minor subjects
in june 1969
— post graduation (M.A. in Sociology) from Central College Bangalore
University from 1969 – 1971
— Doctorate from Bangalore University in 1980 on the Thesis SOCIOLOGY
OF INDIGENOUS MEDICINE.

Teaching : — was lecturer in Sociology and Logic at MES College Malleswaram Bangalore
From 1971 – 1985
— was Reader in Sociology at University of Mysore from July 1985 to jan 1986
— was appointed Reader in Sociology at Bangalore University in 1986 ,retired
As Professor of Sociology and Dean Faculty of Arts in December 2008
— Post – Retirement : was visiting Professor at National Law School of India
University (NLSIU) Bangalore between 2010 — 2016.

Research / — was Senior Research Officer in 1973 – 1974 on an ICSSR Project
Publications on social Mobility among Scheduled Castes
— did a study on college Teachers with Dr N. Jayaram in 1974 – 1975
— have published about 40 papers/articles on a wide variety of Topics
both In English and Tamil.

— was a student leader in college during 1965 — 69 , was a star English
debator in college days

— was General Secretary of Bangalore- University College Teachers’ Association
and Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisation in Karnataka
for several years from 1976 – 1984

— was elected to the Academic Council of Bangalore from the Constituency
of Lecturers between 1978 – 1983

— Edited and published a tamil cultural “little” magazine named padigal
from Bangalore between 1975 and 1986

— Founder – Trustee of PPST Foundation Madras (1980 – 1998) Actively
Involved in organising 3 National Congresses on Traditional Sciences and
Technologies of India , the first at IIT Powai Bombay in Dec 1993 , the second
Congress at Anna University Chennai in Dec 1995 and the third at Varanasi
Rajghat in Dec 1998.

— was a close associate of Dharampal , Historian and Gandhian , Philosopher
From 1980 — 2005 and was involved in all the Research/Publications of
Dharampalji on Pre-British Indian Society and Polity based on archival
Material collected from various places in India and Great Britain.

— Presently a Trustee of Vidya Ashram Varanasi and the Lokvidya Jan
Andolan, closely associated with Gram Seva Sangh of Bangalore.
