World Environment Day celebration
The University will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day on 5th June 2023. The purpose of this celebration is to foster awareness and action for the protection of our environment.
World Environment Day serves as a global platform that promotes positive changes in the environment. It has raised concerns among scholars and academics who study the deteriorating environmental conditions worldwide. Major issues such as global warming, air and water pollution, deforestation, ozone layer depletion, and more require us to take eco-conscious steps to safeguard nature and our planet. Celebrating World Environment Day provides an opportunity for us to connect with nature. In 2023, the campaign theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” emphasizes the need for global solutions to combat this pressing issue.
This day offers a chance for learning about the environment and actively participating in conservation activities. It is our collective endeavour to explore ways to contribute towards a better future. We encourage each one of you to take a pledge to work collaboratively in reducing environmental concerns and minimizing resource wastage. Together, let us strive to make the world a better place by diligently following the three ‘R’s: Reduce the use of unnecessary items, Reuse them until they are no longer usable, and Recycle all recyclable materials. These practices can significantly benefit the environment.
To commemorate and raise awareness about environmental issues, we have organized a speech by Prof. M.V. Nadkarni at 11:30 AM on 5th June 2023 in LH 1, R & T Block of the University. Additionally, there will be a Plantation Drive in the afternoon at 4:00 PM, involving both staff and students.
All students and staff are invited to actively participate in these events and make World Environment Day a meaningful and impactful occasion. Let us come together in our commitment to preserving the environment and creating a sustainable future.
